A bit of a hiatus

Things are a little strange at Chez Bebbs at present or should that read strained

The girls did so well at the rugby the other weekend - third from the whole country - the best result the SWS U18s have ever attained - and they were beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual champions so every reason to be proud of their achievements

But the usual air of busy contentment at home is sadly lacking at the moment:

I'm currently playing 'piggy in the middle' between all the other four members of the household who seem to argue constantly in any combination - usual father v teenager stuff, but seriously wearing me down

The insurance company are playing fast and loose over the accident - we are being falsely accused of creating a very small mark on the hire car we were provided with and now we are fighting a bill of £250 - what a scam!

The accident, although minor in personal physical terms, seems to have knocked me sideways somewhat - I just can't get the 'but it wasn't my fault' whinge out of my head every time I think about it and it seems to be having a somewhat disproportionately detrimental effect on my own personal feelings of wellbeing

To top all this off the arthritis I've suffered with for years in my fingers has flared up quite alarmingly in both my fingers and more worryingly my hands, wrists, elbows, knees and feet - they are sore even when at rest, driving is difficult, writing is painful and many other things are unpleasantly too uncomfortable to contemplate

The net result of this is - yes you've guessed it - not much stitching happening right now

This then means, in real terms:- Anne + no stitching = not a very happy bunny! My stitching is usually my sanity saver - the thing I bury myself in to cope with life's other unpleasantries.

I have a doctor's appointment this evening - maybe he can do something to alleviate the pain in my joints

Only time will tell..............

Oh for a return to stitching tranquility eh?

Oh, I so understand this post - I had a five year dry spell from sewing and now I realize why I was so emotional and stressed during that time - I wasn't doing the one thing that keeps me sane! There were a lot of things going on in my life during that time and instead of sewing to relieve that stress, sewing fell by the wayside increasing the stress! A nasty circle!

Do you think the arthritis flare-up could be caused by the stress?

Hope things get turned around for you soon!

Uh oh. I hope those stresses work themselves out soon. Hope you can stand up to the blasted rental car/insurance scam.

(((hugs))) Anne...it seems like you are going through a rough patch at the moment. I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain...It has to be said though, it sounds like you've been given a big jar by the accident and that will have an effect right the way through.

Hopefully the doctor will help and hopefully the weather will turn warmer which will help too.

Sorry about the arthritis. I'm sure the stress will soon work itself out. I remember those days with pleasant nostalgia now that my grandchildren are teenagers and their parents are going through what they put us through. What goes around comes around. Or is it the other way around.

Anne - you haven't stopped for what seems like weeks. No wonder you are totally stressed out and the joints are playing up.

Dr Clare prescribes complete rest. You are plate spinning and that is not good. When do you break up for Easter?

Tell Nigel from me to quit winding the kids up and look after his long suffering wife instead!

A big hit of B12 should have you stitching again in no time. ((Hugs)) I hope all your stresses fade away soon.

Arthritis pain does become overwhelming and has likely flared up in reaction to the stress of a busy busy family and the car accident issues. Sigh...those lovely teenage years can be good and oh so not good, lol. Sounds like you have your hands full. I hope you can find a way to mange your pain and regain flexibility in your hands so you can get back to your stitching and quilting. I was just looking (closely, lol) at last Springs 4sqs quilt that you sent to me. Your hand work is of such fine quality. I know how painful this is. Sorry. Kim

Anne, sorry to hear about the valley you are in right now. Hopefully things will be on the upturn soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the arthritis flareup is partially stress related.

Blogger deleted my first comment! Things sound a bit dismal chez Bebbs. It's always horrible if you can't sew for whatever reason. Hopefully health and family harmony will improve soon. At least the clocks go forward this weekend - I always feel better when the nights get lighter.

I agree with Not Lucy...stress can cause an autoimmune disease like arthritis to flare up. Wish there were an easy answer. Maybe there is a quiet place you can look at lots of sewing/quiltng books and magazines? take care of yourself.

I agree with what the others have said.
I would tell the family that their behaviour is stressing you and causing your pain.

Best Wishes for less pain very soon.

I am amazed that you have done so much. You should be so proud of what you have achieved in the past six months. You have moved your parents to their new home and supported your children through the busiest season for rugby nuts. Your body has finally said 'Enough!' Just let your body rest and I am quite sure that you will be back to stitching in no time.
The squabbles? Not sure what to offer on that one...I used to ignore it...so it wasn't worth them arguing to get my attention. It was the lazy way out but it worked!

Oh Anne!! I am sad to read this post! I hope your doc has some good suggestions for you, but I can imagine the car thing must be getting you down and the no sewing won't help!! Sending you lots of love and happy thoughts, xka

Congratulations to Sarah and her teammates, families, etc! A record to be proud of! Hope the family squabbles settle down soon, that's never fun, but an inevitable part of family life in one form or another. Hopefully too, the dr. can do something to eliminae the arthritis pain. I'm sure the stress of the accident and the squabblesl are all adding to your painful reactions.

This is completely unrelated to this post - but I found your blog via searching for the word powfagged. Hopefully this website will help you find 'I'm Powfagged'

Oh Anne! Big hugs coming your way. Well done to Sarah and the team. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Is there an insurance industry ombudsman you could turn to for help?

Oh Anne- do hope the arthritis eases up - know it,s going to be so hard for you but maybe just resting your limbs for a number of weeks will pay dividends. Do take care.

I hope you find some relief from your arthritis. I have a good friend who suffers and she is alwyas trying to find a doctor that can prescribe something that doesn't cause side effects. I really feel for her and you. Much love,
