I never needed................

justification for my hobby of patchwork and quilting.

The fact that it keeps me sane is good enough for me.
But here we are in black and white.

The BBC website claims that participating in a hobby like making a patchwork quilt delays the onset of dementia.

Well that's good enough for me chaps :o)

Yet another item in the plus column -- years ago I read that sewing reduced blood pressure. That's my excuse. ;)

errr...does blogging count as cognitive exercise? If not, I am going to have to dust off my sewing basket.

I figured the whole process of making a quilt was good for my brain. Now I have proof. ha ha
I just make a copy of the BBC article to show the church quilting group when they come tomorrow.

I always knew it was good to have hobbies. Maybe this is why more women than men stay sane longer

Nice! So all my hours playing computer games and sudoku and making quilts are not a waste of time.

That is good to hear .... we all will have great company years down the road as we blog along and show our quilting!

We have a quilter in our guild who is somewhere over 95 (she says she likes the way that looks...if she says she is older than that people get too excited!) She has been quilting her whole life. I've been hoping that is part of her reason for still being so sharp!

Amen to that!

Now that is great news!!! And I need all the help I can get! Lord, keep those projects coming!

That newscast made it's way over this side of the pond as well!

Hooray, I've started quilting and patchwork since retiring from teaching, and I've always loved puzzles and sudoku, so I'm in with a chance. I've only just found your blog, thanks to Clare from the Dordogne - who told me about you as we're just moving to Chewton Mendip, just north of Wells. Can you tell me of any good quilty things worth knowing about the area?
