Mixed blessings

Another hectic and not always pleasant couple of weeks...........

These are some beautiful flowers I received on Wednesday - a rare occurrence in this house as my husband is not a flower person under any circumstances.

However these were from his boss - wishing me a speedy recovery from what could have been a very nasty car accident last Tuesday

As I was heading to work another car left the roundabout I was slowing down to join, crossed the grassy central reservation taking out several road signs on the way and hit me on my front passenger corner eventually coming to rest about 20 yards behind me.

Amazingly both of us got out of our vehicles and walked away.

Luckily I was taking a different route that morning or else I would have been in the lane to the left of me and taken the impact head on which would have been altogether more serious.

Fortunately I was only sore and very shocked and have lived to tell the tale which is more than can be said for my poor car - but at least you can replace a vehicle and we hope it will be mendable. It has knocked my driving confidence somewhat though.

Onto stitching...............................

In and amongst the madness that has been car accident, flat completion, work, family and general busyness I've slotted in some stitching for others -

A handful of red and white blocks for Clare for her Leukaemia quilts

And a block for Tracey for an Australian lady who has lost everything in the terrible bushfires

By comparison what's a little car accident eh? I should get these posted off towards the end of this week once we've completed 'Operation Move the Outlaws!' - wish me luck!

Thank god you're okay! Accidents are awful even when no one was hurt.

Well done on finding any time to stitch.

And the best of luck with the outlaw move!

Sounds like you had a lucky escape - bet you needed the sewing to calm down a bit.

Oh phew - narrow squeak. Glad you are ok. I can imagien it would make you very shaky behind the wheel so take it easy.

Nigel's boss obviously likes you!

So glad you are OK. Sometimes after something like that it can be really hard to focus on the "thank goodness" because your mind drfits towards "I could have been...." Enjoy the flowers and be good to yourself.

Oh Anne!!! I thought you'd been quiet. What was with the other driver!!?? I bet Nigel wanted to thump them! Hope you feel better soon. You will be cautious now I'm sure, but it wasn't your fault. Just take care because I do miss you when your not stitching away!!!!!

Lovely hearts and a gorgeous flower block!

(((hugs))) Anne!!!

So glad to hear you are ok and that the worst of the damage was to your car and not you. Take it easy and hope that you're feeling better soon...and that your confidence comes back...accidents are tough to shake off...especially when you think of the "what ifs"...

Take care :o)

I'm so glad you are OK. What a horrible experience though.

Love and hugs Gina xxx

How horrible. Mind you I'm surprised there aren't more accidents the way people drive on our roads. I was a passenger in a crash years ago and I know what you mean about knocking your confidence when in the car. So glad you're ok and love the blocks.

So glad to hear that you came through the accident without injury.
I just love seeing the applique blocks you are working on - they just look fabulous!

I'm so glad you're okay, Anne. I had a similar very frightening accident a few months ago that would have been a killer had we connected. It's amazing what the other drivers will do.

So glad to hear you are OK after the accident...it takes awhile to heal so don't push yourself too fast.

Your blocks look wonderful...as always!

Thinking deeper, your house is better without flowers :-) I am glad that you are OK!

Not a recommended way to recieve flowers. So glad you are okay. Poor car!

Can you pleses tell me about the lady who has lost everything in the fires - cause our group is collecting funds to help just such a person.

yikes Anne - glad you are safe. Having been hit myself (no major injuries, except to the car) I can sympathise with just how much it wrecks your nerves getting back behind the wheel...

So glad you were not seriously hurt. I have been hit by a huge truck, & I am not a very confident driver now.
Lovely stitching, as usual.

Hi Anne
Close escape but you're right other things happening in the world put bad stuff into perspective. Friend of mine had a house fire a few weeks ago and have lost so much but fortunately managed to get out of the house unhurt. She lost 20 years worth of craft equipment but is so thankful that is all she lost. It does shake you're confidence though so take it easy.
Love u lots
