Making progress, but still unsure about that colour

Well I've been off work again today, feeling pretty grotty so I've just pottered in between flopping on the sofa. Four of the six stars put together with their sashings. Like the pattern but still unsure about the colour scheme.

Mind you if you think this is an odd colour combination for a baby quilt take a look at this one ............

I did find it a touch ironic that while I feel this 'hessian' shade is not the sort of theme I'd pick for a baby quilt, it obviously is the colour I'd pick for my lounge - look how well those corner squares melt into my rug :o)

Only two more blocks with sashing and a 4 - 5" plain cream border needed to complete the top.

Camoflauge is far worse.

Wow! What some people will infict on innocent little babies. My thinking is that baby quilts should be brgiht primary colors. Never mind if it fits the room. It should fit the baby and babies like bright colors.

Actually I like it!

I guess there's no accounting for taste. I've read that newborns can really only see contrasts (rather than the colors)so maybe it won't be too bad. I do like the stars and your plan sounds good.

Your work is very neat- & fast!
I cannot believe the camoflage quilt!
I would love those colours in the baby quilt you are making for my lounge too!
Let us hope the baby gets other bright things to see! I agree with Joyce that babies need bright colours.

Your piecework is impeccable. I was once asked to create a baby quilt in chocolate and turquoise (which I thought was ghastly for a sweet little baby girl) and now that's all the rage; either that or chocolate and pink. Go figure. I love brights for babies, too. Camouflage IS worse.

I like your blocks. I think it is a pretty color, and the setting is nice. The parents probably were wanting something the child would be able to love forever. No comment about the camoflauge.

To each their own...I find it much harder to believe that the Celtic quilt is in a cupboard!

I'm not certain I would pick it for a baby, but then, it is VERY pretty!

I think the quilt looks beautiful.

I am often accused (by women who believe themselves to be graduates of the QPA -Quilt Police Academy) of only using dull colors in my quilts. I just smile and say, "I have a sunshiny personality, so my quilts don't have to be. Maybe the new baby will be the same.

It's obviously going to be a 'designer baby'. The quilt is beautiful, but it won't half show the marks ;-)

This little quilt is turning out very nicely - you've done a good job with colours you wouldn't usually work with. Perhaps this one will be used and not be stuck away .....
