Eureka!!!

I've sussed it!

No not the meaning of the universe........... the reason we have children!

So they can sit on the cold playroom floor and ferret through the scrap drawer for bit and bobs of red, pink and cream fabric so I can play at making ...................

Half a heart!

Who knows I might just get to like this string-piecing lark :o)

(By the way you can tell from the background of the pictures I didn't get very far with this tidying up lark - never mind there's always tomorrow and DD1 has just read this over my shoulder so I guess she won't be sorting through that drawer again in a hurry!)

Looks great!

Better not have her sit on the cold floor too long, or she's going to demand that you turn this heart-half into a big floor pillow - for both sorting scraps AND watching TV. :)

It is so much more inspireing to make something than to clean up. You did the right choice. The heart is beautiful.

Neat, I started one of those using log cabin (Strings is a far better solution for the same look!) but never finished it - I finally tossed it quite a while ago...

Maybe you can get her interested in cutting and ironing while you sew! You could do a whole quilt in an evening that way.

THis is coming out really nice...I'm sure she liked helping out! The photos of your quilting area look very familiar...mine looks similar right now...

I thought for sure you were going to say that the reason you didn't have children was because they fell into your scrap box and you couldn't find them! I had to re-read that! My sewing room looks very much like yours. I have a hard time stopping the "flow of inspiration" to actually clean up after myself. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Bless you for making a "Hessian" baby quilt. That takes real discipline!
