And then there were three............

How wonderful.....................
Here in Somerset the sun is shining - and even better.............
Today is an extra day off for me.
Throughout the school year there are usually five days selected by the school to use for teacher training days. The children do not attend and in my case my contract doesn't require me to either.
Because of the variety of training options around, each school sets their own training or 'Inset' days and seldom do different schools have them on the same dates.
This usually means that I get the day off and my kids go to school.
Bliss!
I do love inset days.
Nigel seems to think that I should be making good use of this bonus day by tidying the sewing room.
The sewing room is crying out for a bit of TLC.
But.............
I'm on a roll.................
Three basket blocks completed
And three columns of four jewel box blocks all joined together.
When I looked at this last night it seemed to be all reds (artificial light probably to blame), this morning in the cool morning light of the conservatory it's much more random, the greens seem to dominate more today.
I just love how this pattern jumps out to hit you so much more strongly in the photograph than in the flesh.
Now, do I add another three blocks to the bottom for a single quilt or do I add two columns to the side for a double quilt - decisions, decisions, decisions..........
No, a day off is not a day for having to make decisions so.............
I think, this morning, I shall return to the other project and get the fourth basket block done ready to work out the next stage.
Can't see the tidying happening somehow.
What a shame.

Oh, Anne, I'm SO impressed! Your jewel box sparkles and your baskets are so so so wonderful. I can't wait to start mine!

Tidying is meant to be done when you can no longer see the floor, or get to the sewing and cutting table. Tell that to Nigel!

Your Jewel Box is stunning.

You are making some beauties! I love that jewel box quilt. I can see how all the colors would be so striking! You tempt me!

Oh, you are working too hard in the sewing room to tidy up, can't that be easily seen? Tidying is for when you don't plan to be in there for awhile! Lovely work you've got done, which I could say the same for my list of projects this week.

Fantastic work Anne and thanks for your comment on my blog. Bin thinkin about you, wondering if your mum and dad have settled in ok? What bliss to have the house to yourself, a treat I rarely have. No way should it be spent tidying! enjoy!

Your piecing is so beautiful. Much better to quilt than to tidy, husbands are so silly.

I am just about to begin a Jewel case quilt! I love the look of yours, & I am busy pulling out all my bright scraps.
Tidying is an anthema to creativity to me!!

How good it is to see you getting back to full steam! I hope that sewing machine has enjoyed the holiday because it is going to have to start earning its living again!

You sounds so much more like your old self! I love both quilts you are working on..very inspiring.
I made a jewel box years ago it's a great pattern to use up scraps..and one I should revisit.

A tidy sewing room does not stay tidy for long!

Wow! How many pieces in those blocks?!

we have an inset day the monday following half term - lovely to have that extra day! plus our school is used as a polling station, so we get that thursday off, too.

You have certainly put your day off to good use Anne :) I don't know which project I prefer - the jewel box or the basket blocks. Both will be very beautiful. I also liked very much your baby quilt in the lime/yellow/white. Enjoy yourself.

(And there's always more tidying to be done so I just choose sewing some days too!!)

Wow - they both are coming along fabulous and look great! I don't know which option I'd take on sizing - I suppose for me it would be based on if I had enough fabrics to go the larger way. It will be a beauty either way.

Thanks Anne for your comment, it's great to catch up with you again! This quilt looks fabulous! I had to do a bit of tidying this morning - and I'm only doing a bit of paper piecing. The two colourways are sorted into two bags, the paper blocks in a little sandwich bag and that was supposed to be that - so I have no idea who set the fabric bomb off behind me!
