Sorry ladies - for those of you who also check up on the Spring Fling Round Robin blog this will be a double case of deja vu as I inadvertently posted this little lot onto that blog by mistake - duh - too big a hurry, too many things to do at once!!! Maybe I should just stick to trying to do one thing properly at once :o)))
Sadly it would appear that it has gone to the great quilting bee in the sky - courtesy of the postal service either here in the UK or across the Channel in its recipient's country
So I volunteered to try and recreate it as closely as I could
I know my stash is ridiculously bulging but I'm afraid I haven't got the exact match for the fabrics Jeanette used for the centre.
However I did have some in similar colours.
Here's the new centre - hope it's close enough Jeanette - I'm afraid the green spots had to make way for stripes instead as my only polka dot green needs the viewer to wear sunglasses - not the right colour family at all. I have tried to replicate the pattern as best I can - the purple star points were foundation pieced - I didn't trust myself to do them any other way especially without the original pattern
Then the offset border - again I'd used up or sent on all the cream with gold spots I used last time so this is the best I could come up with
Finally I'm stitching the applique on - my purple is also tone on tone but with lighter details rather than Jeanette's fabric which had a darker self coloured pattern. I think the replacement will give the same general impression even if it's not a complete carbon copy.
Thank goodness I took photos for the blog or else I wouldn't have been able to remember the original or the accompanying label which I will also try to replicate as well as I'm able
Then, once I've completed the applique - hopefully this evening - it's back to finishing of all those hearts I guess...........

Ohhhh, how sad this little quilt has gone missing! Maybe it will still turn up? Great job making it again, I quite like the stripes.
Well if it turns up maybe you can get your great little replacement back?
Nothing but hearts to do? No April Bag then? ;0)
I can't believe it got lost, but you've done a superb job with the replacement.
If the recipient's country is France then it will turn up eventually. If it's the UK did you know there is a place in Dublin (perhaps it's Belfast) where the lost mail ends up. A wedding invite was sent to us a few years ago - just our names and France, no other address. Royal Mail had the sense to open it and send it back to the sender for readdressing.
You are great to do the project again! So sorry the first got lost in the post.
Oh no Anne!! You are a real trooper todo the whole block over again. what a loss! But I love the new block! Stripes and polka dots are fun together! Great job. You deserve an award for "Above and beyond the call of duty!"
Oh what a nuisance ! But you did a great job of making another - fingers crossed it still turns up !
Sorry you lost your first version, but you certainly did come up with another great piece to replace it.
Since I saw a water damaged package on a blog a while back, I place everything in ziplock bags before packing them...also add the address label inside that. Usually tape the exterior real good. I have been fortunate to not have a package lost. So far! Hope yours will still shows up somewhere.
It's a shame that the original went missing, but you have done a lovely job of making a new top - and what a story to tell when it's complete *s*
What a shame that the original has gone missing...but aren't you good getting a replacement made..and so close to the original.
Oh my word, what a nightmare, that would be one of my worst gears, after all that time and work for it to go astray in the post, so good for you for trying to do it all agagin, and if I may say so...its looking lovely,
wow you have done a great job on replicating the original.........
Just think if they find the original then it will have a sister not a twin!
How sad to loose a quilt. Your replacement looks fantastic though Anne, you have done a wonderful job.
I like the idea of the original turning up one day to be a sister!
What a shame the original hasn't turned up. Good on you for recreating it.
Helen from NZ
What bad luck! All that hard work gone missing. I seem to remember that there is a website where you can log lost or stolen quilts and sometimes they are reunited with their owners - especially if you have a good photograph. I am afraid I don't know the website but may be able to track it down.
So,so very sorry to hear to the great loss of your piece. I think the one you are re-creating(and what a wonderful person you are to do that!) is equally marvelous!
Hopefully this one can make it with no accidents or misplacing.
And who knows, maybe the other one will show up yet some day...don't give up hope!
Big hugs, Finn
Anne you are such a kind person doing it all again. It is equally as charming as the first one. Things do disappear in the post. Somethings I sent to Dale in Perth Australia never arrived so I had to rebuy and resend. Luckily it doesn't happen often. I think Kim's suggestion above is a good idea and one I will adopt from now on. (Put both to and from names and addresses inside as well as out on the wrapper.)
Love all your little hearts!
This replica is just as nice as the original. I hope the first one shows up eventually. I can imagine how sick you must be over it's disappearance.
So sad that this went missing - hope it will surface someday. Love your recreation - don't think you could have done any better!!
